Why We Worship
As we come into His presence we come with Thanksgiving and Praise
in our hearts. At Community Church we believe that the Word of God
instructs us how to worship, to come into the Lord's presence. The following
are scriptural references as to what you may see in our worship together.
- Singing: Judges 5:3 Hear, o kings! Give ear O princes! I, even
I, will sing to the Lord, I will sing Praise to the Lord
God of Israel!
- Lifting up of our hands: Psalms 63:4b I will lift up my hands
in your name.
- Shouting: Psalms 98:4 Shout joyfully to the Lord, all the
earth; Break forth in song, rejoice, singing praises.
- Dancing: Psalms 149:3 Let them praise His name with the
dance; Let them sing praises to Him with the
timbrel and harp.
- Kneeling: Psalms 95:6 O come, let us worship and bow down;
Let us kneel before the Lord our Maker.
- Playing Instruments: Psalms 33:2-3 Praise the Lord with the
harp; Make melody to Him with an instrument of
ten strings, Sing to Him a new song; Play skillfully
with a shout of joy.
- Singing In the Spirit: Ephesians 5:18b-19 But be filled with the
Holy Spirit, speacking to one another in psalms and
hymns and spiritual songs, singing and making
melody in your heart to the Lord.
- Receiving of Offerings: Psalms 96:8 Give to the Lord the glory
due His name; Bring an offering, and come into
His courts.
- Prophesy: Joel 2:28 And it shall come to pass afterward that I
will pour out My Spirit on all flesh; Your sons and
daughters shall prophesy, your old men shall
dream dreams, Your young men sahll see visions.
And also on My menservants and on my
maid servants I will pour out My Spirit in those
days.
- Rejoicing: Psalms 98:4-6 Shout joyfully to the Lord, all the
earth; Break forth in song, rejoice and sing
praises. Sing to the Lord with the harp, With the
harp and the sound of the psalm, with trumpets
and the sound of a horn; Shout joyfully before the
Lord, the King.
- Worshiping in Church: Psalms 135:2-3 you who stand in the
house of the Lord, in the courts of the house of our
God, Praise the Lord for the Lord is good; Sing
praises to His name, for it is pleasant.
Psalms 22:22 I will declare Your name to the
brethren; in the midst of the assembly I will praise
you.
Psalms 107:32 Let them exalt Him also in the
assembly of the people, and praise Him in the
company of the elders.
The Lord shows us in His Word the importance of worship and the
value it has in the believers life. We simply agree with the Bible's
worship instructions. We hope that this brief explanation has been a
benefit. If you have questions contact the Pastors and they will be
happy to help you further. In the meantime enjoy the presence of the
Lord as we worship together!
